Description:
Kindergarten is the most exciting grade to teach! In no other grade do you have so much growth-the children come in only knowing the alphabet song and leave reading short, beginning level readers. I love watching the children's eyes light up when they are able to sound out their first words and realize that they know how to read. Some fun things that we learn over the year are counting to 100, recognizing patterns, beginning addition and subtraction, as well as cursive handwriting. Each year we take a trip to the Underwood Family Farm and Pumpkin Patch, where we get to see how a pumpkin grows from a seed to a pumpkin. We also get the opportunity to see many land and sea animals at the Los Angeles Zoo and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The highlight of the year is watching the children show their parents all that they have learned at the Kindergarten Graduation ceremony.
